Renting in Brampton
Brampton is a city in Peel Region, and its rentals run from basement apartments and condos to townhouses and detached houses. The listings above show what landlords are asking today, and they update daily.
Rentals are listed across the city, under neighbourhood names such as Northwest Brampton, Bram East, Credit Valley, Sandringham-Wellington, Fletcher's Creek South, Heart Lake West, Downtown Brampton and the Queen Street Corridor.
Brampton Transit runs the city's buses, including Züm, its bus rapid transit service, with routes on Queen Street, Main Street, Steeles Avenue and Bovaird Drive. GO Transit serves Brampton at Mount Pleasant GO, Brampton Innovation District GO and Bramalea GO.
Landlords commonly ask for the first month's rent, a last month's rent deposit, a rental application, a credit check, rental history and references. Ontario's guide to the standard lease says a landlord can collect only a last-month's rent deposit and a refundable key deposit.
Questions about renting in Brampton
How much is rent for a house in Brampton?
As of November 5, 2026, the middle asking rents on active Brampton listings are: detached houses about $3,350 (half ask $3,000 to $3,750); condo apartments about $2,350 (half ask $2,150 to $2,550); basement apartments about $1,750 (half ask $1,600 to $1,950). Are basement apartments legal in Brampton?
The City of Brampton calls basement and other second units additional residential units and requires them to be registered, and its Residential Rental Licensing Pilot Program asks owners renting one to four units to hold an annual licence. Whether a particular unit meets the rules depends on the unit, so ask the landlord and check with the City of Brampton at brampton.ca. This is general information, not legal advice.
What can a landlord ask for when I rent in Ontario?
Ontario's guide to the standard lease says a landlord can collect only a last-month's rent deposit and a refundable key deposit, not a pet or damage deposit. Landlords may ask for rental history, credit references and a credit check, and may ask about income. The Ontario Human Rights Commission explains what they may and may not consider.

About Brampton
Brampton is the second city of Peel Region and one of the fastest growing municipalities in the country. It is young — the median age is well below the provincial figure — and it is among the most diverse cities in Canada, with a very large South Asian community that shapes the retail, the food and the civic life of the place. The historic downtown around Main and Queen is small relative to the city that grew around it; most of Brampton is postwar and later subdivision, built outward in rings from that centre.
Brampton is where buyers go when they want a detached house and have been priced out of everywhere closer to Toronto. That is the honest summary of the market: detached houses make up the clear majority of what is for sale here, and they list for materially less than the equivalent house in Mississauga or Vaughan. Multi-generational households are common and the stock reflects it — finished basements, secondary suites and larger family houses are ordinary rather than exceptional. The condominium market exists but is small and concentrated.
What a buyer should know is that Brampton's size works against easy generalisation. Bramalea, Heart Lake, Castlemore, Mount Pleasant and the older core are very different in age of stock, lot size and price, and a figure quoted for "Brampton" will not describe any of them well. Commuting is the other consideration: the Kitchener GO line and Highways 410 and 407 carry most of it, and where you live relative to those determines a great deal about the day.
